Methotrexate interferes with the growth of certain cells of the body, especially cells that reproduce quickly, such as cancer cells, bone marrow cells, and skin cells. It is usually given after other medications have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms.
Methotrexate Tablets is used to treat certain types of cancer of the breast, skin, head and neck, or lung. It is also used to treat Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), Osteosarcoma, Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), horiocarcinoma, chorioadenoma and gestational trophoblastic diseases, Mycosis fungoides (cutaneous T-cell lymphoma). Used in the treatment of breast, advanced head and neck, lung, and stomach cancers. Also used in non-cancerous conditions such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis

Before taking Methotrexate, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease, kidney disease, lung disease (such as pulmonary fibrosis), alcohol use, suppressed immune system, blood cell/bone marrow disorders, stomach/intestinal diseases (such as peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis), any active infection (including chickenpox or recent exposure to it), folic acid deficiency.
Do not have immunizations/vaccinations without the consent of your doctor. Avoid contact with people who have recently received live vaccines (such as flu vaccine inhaled through the nose).
Methotrexate must not be used during pregnancy. It may harm an unborn baby.
Since this drug can be absorbed through the skin and lungs and may harm an unborn baby, women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not handle this medication or breathe the dust from the tablets.
Methotrexate passes into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. Therefore, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
